Betty White, one of the most loveable actresses of this or any other generation, has finally gotten her wish. The octogenarian will host Saturday Night Live thanks to a strong push from fans all across the world via the World Wide Web. The announcement came after a campaign via Facebook pushed for the former Golden Girls actress to be given a gig hosting the long-running Saturday Night Live. White will be hosting the show on May 8th, which coincidentally, just happens to also be Mother’s Day weekend.
Saturday Night Live premiered on October 11th, 1975 under the title of NBC’s Saturday Night. The show has featured some of the entertainment industry’s biggest names and was a launching point for many others, including Bill Murray, Eddie Murphy, Will Ferrell and others. Saturday Night Live is filmed at Rockefeller Plaza, one of the many stops on the Tours4Fun $10 Tour of New York. The tour also includes such famous destinations as Ground Zero, Fifth Avenue, Wall Street and more.
White’s inclusion in the legendary list of performers that have guest hosted the show comes in large part to the more than 500,000 supporters who bound together to get White a chance to host the show. White claims that this is not the first time the show has tried to win her services, but that she relented this time due to the tremendous outpouring of fans who gathered in an attempt to get White another chance at hosting the late night variety program.
