The Grand Canyon is the most famous natural attraction in the United States and possibly in the world. Located in the state of Arizona, this is a steep-sided gorge carved by the Colorado River was formed over a period of six million years. This magnificent creation is largely contained within the Grand Canyon National Park. The canyon is 277 miles long, ranges in width from 4 to 18 miles and attains a depth of more than a mile. The canyon started from the west but soon after another canyon formed from the east. The two broke through and met as a single majestic rent in the earth.

Why not take a scenic drive to Cape Royal, 23 miles from the Grand Canyon Lodge. Stop for a picnic at Point Imperial, the highest vantage point in the park, then continue to Vista Encantadora, Roosevelt Point and Walhalla Overlook. At the end of the road, it’s a 0.6-mile walk on a paved path to Cape Royal for a spectacular panoramic view of the canyon. A single visit can be life changing.
