For the fifth time since 2004, subscribers to Conde Nast Traveler magazine have voted Vancouver the most desired travel destination.  The 2010 Readers’ Choice Awards poll asked readers to vote for their favorite city in the Americas, besides the United States, and were asked to rank the cities based on their lodging facilities, eateries, shopping centers, and overall hospitality.   Vancouver must be accustomed to winning major accolades by now, as in 2009 the city was also crowned “The World’s Most Livable City” by the Economist Intelligence Unit, as well as “North America’s Top Destination for International Meetings” by the International Congress & Convention Association.  Those involved in Canada’s tourism industry such as Mayor Gregor Robertson, are especially appreciative of these honors, and promise to ensure that Vancouver tours remain a preferred vacation for future travelers.  In the words of tourism minister Kevin Krueger, “This award underscores our efforts to showcase our urban life, arts, culture, spectacular sights and wide range of attractions, which make Vancouver an amazing destination.”
