It isn’t too surprising that Hawaii is experiencing stead tourism growth this summer, seeing
that a beautiful, exotic island isn’t too out of the ordinary for a summer vacation, but no one expected it to continue growing for seven consecutive months. The Hawaii Tourism Authority recently announced that Hawaii experienced a record 625,522 visitors during June, which is a 13.6 percent increase from the June of 2009. This has been an incredible year for the island, as the company also reports that those touring Hawaii spend a total of $13.17 million in the past month, making it a 16.1 percent jump.
All of the Hawaiian Islands have fortunately enjoyed a significant peak in visitor traffic with:
Oahu up 18.3%
Big Island up 8.9%
Maui up 5.9%
Kauai up 5.8%
While these are excellent figures, the state is still recovering from the recent economic downturn as well as the effects of the H1N1 epidemic. The Hawaiian hospitality industry is doing everything they can to encourage increased visits from foreigners. They are determined to ensure that a memorable, quality experience is created for all travelers. Hawaiian tourism authorities see the recent increase as a sign of good times to come, and continue to stay optimistic about revitalizing their economy.
