Walt Disney Co. presents an opportunity to meet your favorite Disney characters for free! All you have to do is sign up for a volunteer opportunity on their website and you get a free one-day admission ticket to Walt Disney Resort in Orlando, Florida or Disneyland in Anaheim. What makes your one day of service enjoyable is the fact that it consists of fun-filled projects that involve your family.
The “Give a Day, Get a Disney Day” campaign by Walt Disney is aimed towards promoting volunteerism and boosting attendance in their domestic theme parks. "It’s a great way to honor guests who are making a positive contribution to their communities," Disney President and Chief Executive Robert A. Iger said in a statement. This campaign is an initiative to attract more visitors to their parks despite the recessional times. Last year, the company provided hotel and travel discounts which increased traffic to their resort and park, which are popular tourist destinations that are perpetually a part of any Los Angeles Vacation Packages or Florida Sight Seeing Tours. This year, the company came up with a creative promotional activity which encourages people to volunteer for a good cause, with the help of HandsOn Network, a giant volunteer organization. HandsOn Network is part of the Points of Light Institute, which is a national, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to engaging more volunteers and resources to help solve serious social problems.
Starting January 1, 2010, people can go to DisneyParks.com to browse volunteer opportunities and sign up for a day of service. Begin the New Year by donating your one day to make this world a better place!
