Juneau is the state capital of Alaska, and offers its visitors a world of possibilities from whale watching to hiking, biking, and fishing tours, Juneau is a city brimming over with fun activities.

This scenic train ride, while it might be a little expensive, is an activity which is fully-narrated and they depart right alongside the docking port for cruise ships. The narrations are also fun and very informative for all. 

Just a short drive from Juneau, visit the enormous ice field which flows down the valley, known as the Mendenhall Glacier. Visitors here will love this prime example of glacial geology as well as beauty and its located only 13 miles from downtown Juneau.  There is a visitor’s center available which includes an exhibit gallery and theatre. There is even the chance to experience the sensation of being inside a simulated ice cave!  Watch as the video monitors come alive and present you with an animated view of the Mendenhall Glacier as it advances and recedes, which will greatly assist you in understanding how the valley’s fragile ecosystem works. A great experience for adults and children alike. 

Hop on one of the Trolley’s at the Juneau Trolley Car Company, a charming red trolley which continuously travel into town on a thirty-minute loop through downtown Juneau, stops at attractions and other highlights along the way. All-day passes are an economical way to see the sights as you hop from one attraction to the other easily. 

Whether you are unwinding with a pint of Alaskan beer at the Red Dog Saloon, watching a theatrical performance of the Klondike days or enjoying a scenic boat cruise, Juneau is a city you will always remember.
