Happy 100th Anniversary for American-Born RV Industry!

In 1910, there were fewer gas stations, lesser paved roads and no highways.  But there were RVs. The Recreational Vehicle industry has survived for 100 years, through wars and peace, fads and revolutions, and is still going strong even in challenging economic times. Today is a big day for the American-born RV industry – The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA), the national trade association representing RV manufacturers and their component parts suppliers who together have built more than 98 percent of all RVs produced in U.S. On June 7, 2010, 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., RVIA is hosting an industry-wide, year-long celebration to recognize the 100th anniversary of the RV industry. The celebration will be marked by an array of centennial events and promotions that will highlight RV industry’s proud past and bright future. To honor the enduring lifestyle that RV has made popular among today’s travelers and excursionists, the RV Centennial Celebration will be arranged at the RV/MH Hall of Fame and Museum in Elkhart, Indiana.  The celebration will include an outdoor festival and barbecue, a special one hour program featuring entertaining videos and presentations saluting the industry’s history, a Centennial Campfire surrounded by antique RVs, unveiling of an RV-themed time capsule that will remain on display at the RV museum and an outdoor reception honoring the industry’s proud past and promising future. RVIA President Richard Coon will address the industry’s historic beginnings and its successful journey. A cake cutting ceremony and fireworks will wrap up the evening. The highlight of the celebration will be the "Salute to Workers" tribute to honor all the workers who are responsible for the industry’s success.

RV enthusiasts, this is your chance to be a part of a historic celebration that marks the survival of a mode of travel that has been around for the last 100 years and has not gone out of style despite the technological advancements in the transportation industry. Celebrate the 100th anniversary of the revolutionary recreational vehicle by planning Grand Canyon Tours, Yellowstone Tours, and Mt. Rushmore Tours in your very own RV, and enjoy the ride amidst some breathtaking landscapes this summer!
