Montreal’s Nightlife
Let the party begin! Montreal is a city that sparkles at night, from its many bars and restaurants on Saint Catherine Street to the heart pounding rhythms of Latin American music found in the Latin Quarter. Montreal offers something fro everyone from comedy clubs to playing the slots at the Montreal Casino- you can literally feel the electricity and excitement in the air!
The drinking age in Montreal is lower than in any other of the Canadian provinces. You only have to be 18 years old to enjoy a cold beer. There are endless nightclubs, after-hours clubs and discotheques to keep you rocking all night long!
Some of Montreal’s hot spots include Saint Catherine Street, which is the most popular street for locals and tourists who like to party. This street offers many cafes, restaurants, Martini bars and lounges and some of the best live music in town.
If you love to salsa and merengue, make sure to head over to the Latin Quarter, where you can move your hips and shake your body to the sweet sounds of Latin American music.
I would also recommend heading to “Light Ultraclub” on 2020 Crescent if hip-hop and house are your style of music. This nightclub is the place to be, especially for younger crowds.
In Old Montreal you can marvel at the sights of this vibrant city as you hear passer-by’s speaking French, the language of love as well as one of Canada’s two official languages. Montreal at night has a very passionate and sensual feel to it, and is ideal for a romantic getaway.
Montreal also has various jazz bars and lounges where one can relax and enjoy a cocktail while listening to some soulful tunes.
For GBLT travellers, a visit to the Gay Village is a definite must. There you can find great bars and clubs who host some of the best DJs in all of Montreal and the atmosphere is always colourful and very lively!
Don’t forget about the very innovative and unique Underground City where Montrealers and tourists party like its hot, hot, hot outside even if the snow outside is knee-deep! The Underground City extends over an area of approximately 30 kilometres and connects a vast number of stores, cafes and bars and even hotels completely underground where you are shielded from Canada’s harsh winter or you can cool off during the hot, humid days of summer. It is an attraction not to be missed!
Whether you are sipping a martini, dancing up a storm or just love to people watch, Montreal’s nightlife is THE place to let loose and party!
