Visit the treasures of Jordan

During your trip, make sure to visit Petra, the early capital city of the Nabataean people, which houses ancient ruins and is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The ruins are truly breathtaking and are definitely worth a visit. As you head to the site, feast your eyes on the Siq, which is a narrow gorge bordered by cliffs over 300 feet high, which lead you into the main entrance of Petra. Truly stunning!

Next, head to the “Treasury”, which is known locally as “Al-khazna” and is indeed properly named because treasures for the eyes abound here. Enjoy the gorgeous 2000-year-old monument, which resembles a Greek temple. On top of the monument, there is an urn, which was once reputed to hold many priceless treasures. Make sure to have your cameras ready!

Another interesting city to visit is Amman, which is full of shops, nightlife and cultural landmarks of interest. A trip to the Citadel is well worth the visit. It is perched on one of the numerous hills of Amman and offers sweeping views of the city. Top it off with a look at some of the Dead Sea Scrolls. The National Archeology Museum is located within the Citadel and this important museum displays examples of papyrus, copper, lead and leather scrolls found in caves in Qumran in the early 1950s. A must-see for history buffs!

Step back 2,000 years in time with a visit to the ruins of the imposing Roman amphitheater, located in Amman, which once held 5,000 spectators, and is still used today for theater and entertainment. This is not only a chance for a great photo opportunity, the tour also teaches you more about Jordan’s history and cultural importance in the world today. There is the chance to buy souvenirs from the many local shops set up in the area, and the prices are very reasonable here.

After a long day of sightseeing and being on your feet, there is no better way to relax than to head to the Zara Spa in Amman. What sets this spa apart from others is its spectacular desert location; the healthful, low-humidity climate and the benefits derived from the heavy concentration of saline and minerals in the Dead Sea pools. This is truly a great way to re-energize body, mind and soul.

Whether you are relaxing on the Amman Tourist Beach, visiting the market place in Amman or admiring the ancient ruins of Petra, Jordan offers its visitors a never-ending array of attractions to visit.
