Palaces and castles are bountiful in Vienna, Austria. One of the most beautiful is called Schonbrunn Palace. The guided tours are terrific; the guides’ make you feel as if you have stepped back in time where dancing the Waltz was part of every festival and party. The furniture found in the Palace is original, and every room you visit is more beautiful than the rest.
For those of you who do not want to take the guided tour, there is an audio tour available in a variety of different languages. The audio tour is very informative and will give you a sense of life back in the Sissi Empire days in Austria. After visiting the palace, make sure to visit the immense gardens as well. The gardens are beautifully looked after and one of the most romantic spots in all of Vienna!
For a fun-filled afternoon with the kids, or with your significant other, the Tiergarten Schoenbrunn or the Vienna Zoo is a great option. The animals have a lot of free space to roam on their own. The main attraction is the pair of cute polar bears, which are always entertaining. Look out for the Panda Cub just sleeping on a branch in the enclosure and for the sloth in the Rainforest section!
For music and museum buffs, head to the Haus der Musik, which offers interactive exhibits, with a unique way of presenting the information. For example, the first room you visit upon entering the museum, focuses on what it might be like for a foetus to hear music from inside the womb. This is quite the exhibit, it is unique and put together in an informative way. The other rooms explain what the different parts of the ear do and how it hears pitch, frequency etc. There are exhibits in German and English about the most important composers in Austrian history. It is a very fun museum with lots to do and explore.
Every visitor to Vienna should see The Viennese Prater, the Giant Ferris Wheel, which is one of the major attractions in Vienna. Step into a world, which is full of amusement and fun for all! Zoom around in one of the Electrical Boats, try your luck in the fortune-telling machine or enjoy a piggyback race. This amusement park is open all-year-round, and at night the stars light up the sky, it is a great place for a date!
Whether you are enjoying a traditional appfelsturdel (apple strudel) dessert, touring the Danube by boat or clubbing at the “ Sky” and “ Empire” discotheques, Vienna is a city, which is a mixture of modern and traditional architecture and beauty.
