Natural Attractions in Poland

When you think of Poland, perhaps its capital city Warsaw is what first comes to mind. However, Poland is also a very rich country in natural attractions, which are fantastic for nature lovers.

To the north of Poland is the Baltic Sea, and to the south you will see its wonderful mountain range. With the coastline, mountains, and the lakes region, Poland offers its visitors a variety of natural beauty and wonder.

The Bialowieza National Park spans across the borders of Poland and Belarus is nestled amidst the depths of the Bialowieza Primaeval Forest, also known as Belaveskaya Pushcha in Polish. On the Polish side it covers an area of over 100 square kilometers and is the remnant of the huge forest that once traversed the length of the European Plains. This national park has been declared as an UNESCO World Heritage Site and a Biosphere Reserve and is visited by approximately 100,000 tourists each year, who are astounded by her natural beauty and serenity.  The forest is very unique and is rich in biodiversity. It is also the only surviving lowland forest of its kind, and therefore is always popular with geographers and nature lovers.

Visit the islands of Wolin and Uznam, which are great for your holiday and are home to many seaside resorts, rich flora and fauna. The islands also offer a great, relaxing atmosphere. The Swina strait separates the Islands and part of Uznam Island actually belongs to Germany whereas the eastern part is Polish. These islands are known for their extraordinary scenic beauty, glacial hills and green forests, which are waiting to be explored by you. Explore the town of Swinoujscie, which is rich in culture and has a fun nightlife. During the summer, enjoy a festival of Organ and Chamber Music, which is held annually at the Cathedral.

A visit to the Masurian Lakes, located in the northern part of Poland is a wonderful natural attraction and this area is also known as the "Land of a Thousand Lakes". It has the biggest concentration of lakes in Poland. These lakes are remnants of the ice age, when all of northeastern Poland and parts of Europe were covered by ice. There are over 4000 lakes in the whole area, linked by rivers and canals to form an intricate system of waterways. The Masurian Lakes area is also home to some of Central Europe’s largest forested areas, and thus are a haven of scenic beauty.

Poland’s natural attractions are by far some of the most beautiful in all of Europe and are waiting to be explored by you.
