Many people believe Liechtenstein to be the jewel of Europe, and often compare the country to reading a good book. Once you have started reading the book of Liechtenstein, you can’t put it down. The country is the fourth smallest in all of Europe, however despite its size, the country has a very unique and eventful history, which has led it to be a highly industrialized state.

Vaduz is both traditional and modern; it’s open to the world and is a fascinating city to visit. Vaduz is the capital of Liechtenstein; it houses the Royal Family of Liechtenstein and is where Parliament sits. Over the past few years, it has become the center of the whole region. The capital’s inhabitants only number a little over 5000, but it is a vibrant town with a wide range of cultural attractions to offer.

Every year, there is a Liechtenstein State celebration, which begins with a sermon, held on the Vaduz castle lawn every August 15. Then, the prince invites the audience for a drink at his castle. In the afternoon, the entire country of Liechtenstein (35,000 strong) parties until late at night. The highlight of this popular celebration is the always-magnificent fireworks, launched punctually at 10pm from the castle; it often illuminates the entire Rhine valley.

The Museum of Fine Arts, the National Museum, attractive shops, cinemas, galleries and restaurants in the pedestrian zone of Vaduz further enhance the charm and beauty of a stay in this pretty town. The indoor tennis courts, squash center, mini-golf facility, and modern soccer stadium offer guests a welcome change of scenery to the hustle and bustle of bigger European cities.
