Experience a Tea Ceremony and a Bonsai Workshop on a Tour of Japan!

While many have flocked to Shanghai for the 2010 World Expo, another Asian country has been experiencing a steady growth in tourism recently. The Research and Markets site has just released their Japan Tourism Report for 2010’s 4th quarter. It looks like land of the rising sun has enjoyed steady growth since 2001, despite experiencing a slight decline in 2008. From 2001-2007, the total numbers of travelers arriving by air or sea have consistently increased. While there are many who venture to this beautiful country for business reasons, leisure travelers remain the most prominent reason for Japan tours. In fact, the website predictsb that Japan will welcome a total of 8.4 million leisure visitors by the end of 2014, while business travelers will hit 1.6 million.

In order to accommodate the massive amount of visitors, Japan’s government is looking for ways to improve entry into the country. Originally, there were no budget airlines that flew to Japan, but in March, the country introduced its Ibaraki Airport at Omitama, which is less pretentious than Japan’s existing airports, possibly paving the way for lower-budget airlines to enter the country. Also, because this airport is located just north of Tokyo, it makes for an efficient destination for those hoping to visit
the city.
