Niclas Aarestrup Talks Traveling on a Budget

Travelling on a budget makes a lot of sense. Back when I had just turned 18 and was going out on a holiday without my parents I managed to spend around 5,300 USD on a 2 week vacation in France (and that doesn’t include flight and hotel). I had a great time during the vacation and a slightly less great time when I got back home.

So why did this happen? Well, first of all I had been given just about any kind of plastic card imaginable by my bank, plus a stack of EuroCheques. And what was even worse, I had made absolutely no attempt at making a budget for the trip even though I had been to France before and thus had a pretty good idea what expenses I should expect.

Free Entrance to All National Parks!

In celebration of summer, the National Park Service will be waiving all park entrance fees during the weekend of June 5-6.  The park service will also honor this deal during August 14 and 15, September 25, and November 11.  This is wonderful news for those looking forward to budget travel this summer, as some of the participating parks charge anywhere from $3 to $25.  But while you will be saving on the initial entrance fee, charges for camping, tours and concessions remain in effect.

Orlando, Florida the #1 U.S. Tourist Destination

According to a data collected by travel research firm D.K. Shifflet & Associates Ltd, Orlando, Florida welcomed a total of 46.6 million visitors in 2009, making it the top US destination of the year.  Despite 2009 being a challenging year for the travel and tourism industry, Orlando fared much better than expected by earlier forecasts predicted by the firm.  The majority of the travelers were domestic with 43.3 million accounted for, and another 3.3 million total foreign visitors.
