Lake Tahoe is located along the border of California and Nevada, just west of Carson City, Nevada. Two-thirds of the lakes perimeter is located in California, with the remainder in Nevada. Lake Tahoe is one of the largest and deepest freshwater lakes in the United States. The only lake deeper is Oregon’s Crater Lake at a depth of 1949 ft, compared to Lake Tahoe’s 1645 ft.
