Pilots have come forward to warn that passengers’ lives could be at risk if the European Union goes ahead with its new plans to ease restrictions on working hours. Pilot unions from all across Europe have accused the European Union of bowing to the pressure from airlines to increase the amount of time that is allowed to be spent in the air without a break.
Now representatives from 22 different countries are stepping up their demand for action. They say that the European Aviation Safety Agency has failed to act after a study it commissioned revealed the danger of high levels of fatigue. Pilots are worried if the limits are increased, then these fatigue problems could be a problem for passengers.
