7 Reasons to Travel with One Bag

You start each trip with organizational hope and precision: bringing everything that you could possibly need away from home and neatly categorizing items into two or more bags. This system quickly annoys once you have to drag your multiple suitcases through long check-in lines or across the cobblestone bumps of a medieval town. The only way to avoid this stress is by traveling with one bag.

The Most Uncrowded National Parks

With roughly 3 million annual visitors, many of whom don’t often leave their cars, a first-time visitor to Yellowstone National Park might experience the unpleasant phenomenon known as a “wildlife jam.” A stray bear or bison can be the cause of stopped traffic, creating bumper-to-bumper congestion worthy of an L.A. freeway at rush hour.

Yellowstone was the fifth most popular park in 2008. The top four, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, Yosemite National Park, and Olympic National Park, combined with Yellowstone saw 23 million annual visitors last year.

9 Tips for Insanely Busy Travelers

Many frequent and hardcore travelers are extremely busy people. One type of traveler crams business and pleasure trips into single junkets. Another type corrals an entire family through an itinerary that would kill a hardy donkey, let alone an exhausted working parent. Another type micromanages their trip down to the minute such that they’re setting alarms at all times of day to keep themselves on schedule. And then there are those who are so busy they can barely find enough time to take their vacations, much less do all the nuts-and-bolts tasks of planning those vacations.

Five of the Best and Worst Airplane Movies

I’ve always loved the movie "Airplane!" and I defy anyone to see it and not laugh out loud. It’s a politically-incorrect extravaganza with a disco scene to die for and, yes, even a few lessons for us fliers.

Shedding Inhibitions and Clothes

Who knew that frolicking in the altogether was such a popular pastime? According to a survey of 1,882 U.S. adults by the Ypartnership/Yankelovich 2009 National Travel Monitor, 10 percent of respondents said that a “resort that offers a nude recreation experience” was an attribute that they would describe as “extremely/very desirable” in a leisure travel experience. That compares to those who favored golf (8 percent), snowboard/skiing (7 percent), hunting (7 percent), mountain biking (6 percent) and tennis (4 percent).

Ski Resorts Cutting Prices to Lure Locals

A struggling economy is turning out to be good news for skiers and snowboarders who live close enough to mountains that they can hit the slopes every weekend.

Many ski resorts are slashing prices on season passes and offering locals-only discounts in an effort to boost revenues from nearby metropolitan areas at a time many U.S. travelers are choosing to vacation closer to home.

In few places is this trend more evident than in Utah, where snow-lovers can drive from downtown Salt Lake City and be in a lift line in roughly 30 minutes.
