Sexually-Charged ‘Cougar Cruise’ on Deck for Carnival Ship

First a cruise for swingers. Now a voyage for . . . cougars.

That’s right, a bit of naughtiness will be hitting the high seas in December as what’s billed as the first "cougar cruise" sets sail out of San Diego.

Los Gatos, Calif.-based Singles Travel Company and singles group The Society of Single Professionals are co-sponsoring the three-night escapade aboard a Carnival ship, which is aimed at older woman who pursue younger men — or "cougars," in contemporary lingo.

Who knew that frolicking in the altogether was such a popular pastime? According to a survey of 1,882 U.S. adults by the Ypartnership/Yankelovich 2009 National Travel Monitor, 10 percent of respondents said that a “resort that offers a nude recreation experience” was an attribute that they would describe as “extremely/very desirable” in a leisure travel experience. That compares to those who favored golf (8 percent), snowboard/skiing (7 percent), hunting (7 percent), mountain biking (6 percent) and tennis (4 percent).

New Travel Accommodation Service to Rival Couch-Surfing

State quarters done; up next: National Parks

Quarters dropped into fountains at Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas next year could feature the park itself.

The U.S. Mint announced Wednesday that the first in its "America the Beautiful" series of quarters will feature Hot Springs, which was set aside for preservation by the federal government in 1832. Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming will be featured second.

Travel News: U.S. Senate Passes ‘Travel Promotion Act’

The U.S. Senate today passed the “Travel Promotion Act,” (S. 1023), a new program said to drive millions of new travelers to the U.S., create jobs and strengthen the economy. The proposed legislation now moves to the House for a vote.

The Travel Promotion Act creates a public-private partnership to promote the United States as a premier travel destination to visitors. If enacted into law, the travel program is estimated to create 40,000 U.S. jobs, drive $4 billion in new consumer spending and reduce the federal budget deficit by $425 million, according to the U.S. Travel Association.

Travel News: Preventing Swine Flu on the Plane

In the effort to prevent the transmission of the swine flu virus on board of the plane, some airlines are putting away the pillows and blankets and rolling out the disinfectant wipes.

However experts say it is a precaution of moderate usefulness.
