Brussels is not only the capital of Belgium; it is also the Headquarters of the European Union and is a fun and vibrant city, which offers tourists a variety of enjoyable activities to partake in.

Visit the Grand Place, which is located in the center of Brussels and is considered to be one of the most stunning town squares in all of Europe. It was named an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998, and is the main square in Brussels. On Sundays, visit the open market, which offers different types of fruit and vegetables as well as an array of clothing, electronics and other souvenirs available. Throughout the year, many concerts, festivals and musicals take place in the Grand Place. Its impressive architecture attracts tourists and locals alike, and its many narrow streets are filled with shops, bars, and restaurants.

Brussels is a city, which is laden with statues, unlike many of the cities in Europe, but one statue particularly stands out- visit the Manneken Pis, which is a famous landmark in Brussels. He can be found on the corner of Stoofstraat and L’Etuye. The statue can be found in its original version, naked, or is sometimes adorned in various costumes according to the time of year by locals.

If you would like the chance to see more of Europe, head to the theme park called Mini Europe, which offers more than 300 miniature replicas of various landmarks in Europe such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Big Ben in London, the Acropolis in Athens and even Brussels own, Grand Place. This theme park includes some interactive version of their cities, including Mount Vesuvius and the fall of the Berlin Wall. A great exhibit for children and adults alike!

A trip to the Antonium is also fun; especially for science buffs- it is a huge model of an iron molecule, which was built in 1958 for the International Exposition held in Brussels. The sculpture is 335 feet tall, and it is an imposing structure that dominates the view. Visitors can tour the Antonium for a small fee and visit five of the nine spheres. The upper sphere can only be reached by elevator, and at the top, you will find a restaurant, which offers great food and spectacular panoramic views of the city. The rest of the spheres can only be reached by stairs or by escalators, and include exhibits, snack bars, and a special sphere for children.
