United States is known for its rich treasure of national parks, where every park uniquely preserves spectacular natural beauty that attracts visitors from all over the world and leaves the tree huggers awe-inspired! As an effort to extend the environmental boon offered by these stunning national parks to Generation Y and encourage them to discover the evolvement and history behind this fascinating creations of nature, U.S. National Park Service is observing National Park Week from 17th April to 25th April 2010 during which the entrance to all the 392 national parks within the nation will be absolutely free!
This environmentally friendly initiative is driven with the hope of planting the seed of stewardship in today’s generation and inspiring people to acknowledge the ecological advantage provided by national parks. In honor of Earth Day (22nd April) National Park Week will include organized events, talks, volunteer clean-ups, hikes, wildlife programs, heritage celebrations, and diverse green activities that offer myriad of opportunities to do your bit for our planet. A number of parks have special events for kids scheduled for April 24, which is National Junior Ranger Day. Kids who participate in walks, litter pick-ups, and other activities can earn a junior ranger patch!
