Disney Announces Last Tour Of Endor

Star Wars

If you read the title of this blog and understood what that means, then you, too, are a diehard Star Wars fan who is bound to be upset that Disneyland announced the last tour of Endor on May 7. Endor, which many Star Wars fans will recognize, was the home of the Eewoks, the creatures that helped the Rebels win the battle against Darth Vader and the others in Return of the Jedi, is the alleged destination of one of Disneyland’s most popular rides — Star Tours. The ride has been around since 1987 and its run is finally coming to a close as Disneyland moves on without it.

Disneyland vacations, which have long been a staple for anyone taking a tour of Los Angeles, will go without Star Tours with the Last Ride of Endor being offered at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on August 14th, where many Star Wars fans will shed a final tear for the ride. For those of us that have taken a tour of Disneyland, you’ll remember Star Tours as basically a Tour of Endor gone bad for the most part. Your “tour” is led by a droid who isn’t in the movies, but you’ll be sure to recognize some of your favorite characters and footage while waiting in line and even on the ride itself.

The closing of the ride will be mourned/celebrated with Star Wars Shows, a Death Star Disco, party zones, Symphony in the Stars and a special Star Wars-themed fireworks show.

Luckily, the place where the Star Tours ride currently resides will soon house another Star Wars ride, which means that in addition to taking a trip to Los Angeles to partake in the Last Tour of Endor, another Disneyland tour will be a necessity soon to take part in another adventure in galaxy far, far away!
